Identification numbers
The goal of this list is to encompass animals with known and distinct origin and to conserve local forms, so that even after generations of breeding the origin of the lines can be traced back to the finding spots of their ancestors.
Therefore, all specimen of a species with identical, certain and clearly defined origin/finding spot will be assigned a unique number - those are the pure lines (denoted by "R" for "rein"). Specimen with an uncertain origin/finding spot will be assigned another unique number - those lines are called mixed lines (denoted "M").
One species can comprise of different lines, depending on whether there have been imports from certain and distinct origins - all of them have different numbers and can therefore be easily distinguished.
Take for example SIDN 0003-R and SIDN 0004-R. Both stand for Liocheles waigiensis, but from different and clearly distinguishable origins. Imagine specimens of this species appear, whose origin are uncertain. Those would be assigned a new number and therefore a new (mixed because of the uncertain origin) line of Liocheles waigiensis - xxxx-M. Every specimen of uncertain origin would be assigned this new number. Young of adults from different lines (even if both are pure) would be assigned the number of the mixed line, too (For example when mating SIDN 0003-R and SIDN 0004-R. The young would be assigned to xxxx-M).
Important information about the use of this list: |
If a species is kept and not listed (be it with our without certain origin), or if a species is perhaps listed but not with a fitting origin, please write to sidn(at)panarthropoda.de for us to add a new line.
Furthermore we ask you to let us know if data is not up to date anymore (for example if a line has been lost).
If you have any questions concerning the list and ID numbers feel free to contact us, too.
